This weeks skater of the week is Josh Kalis, DGK general. Josh Kalis is a central part of DGK’s pro team for many reasons. He is a legendary veteran skateboarder who’s well respected by everyone. Originally from Dallas, Josh made a name for himself on the mean streets of San Francisco and Philadelphia. His skating helped define the late 90’s / early 00’s Love Park era and the plaza movement in general. That era would also cement Josh’s role as one of the all-time great skaters.As of July 2012, Kalis is sponsored by DGK, DC Shoe Co., DC Apparel, 9five Eyewear, Reflex, MOB, and Silver Josh joined DGK in 2009, which was only natural given his strong ties with Stevie Williams, who credits Josh as being his mentor. Antwaun Dixon, Body - Life Canvas

Any trick that one can make look effortless and beautiful, he’s done it. Born in Victorville, California but was raised in Carson. He recalls his first skateboarding experience when he was 11 rolling off a car and busting his eye open. He’s been an addict ever since. I guess one word that describes Antwuan Dixon is Rebel. Nothing says rebel quite like tattoos, and Antwuan has a lot of them. His entire uppper body is covered in tattoos including his torso, chest, back sholders, arms , hands face, and neck. And when he’s not skating, fighting, cursing, making jokes, getting tatted, he’s smoking. All of Antwuan videos feature him smoking almost as much as they do of him skating. He’s admits he enjoys life more when he’s not sober, showing up to many an interviews, high, drunk, slurring speech and clearly out of his mind. His extreme rebel ways have gotten him in trouble on more than one occasion. On March 22, 2008 Antwuan Dixon was arrested by Tampa Police on drug possession charges with intent to sell as well as the batter of 3 law enforcement officers. In an interview with Skateboardermag, Dixon says, “Ah, man, some crazy shit happened at Tampa! I was just over there chilling, smoking, and I'm chilling outside paying for that tatoo dude and this girl to get in. Then, all of a sudden, this girl's like, "Antwuan, you wanna go smoke?" So we go and we're about to smoke these blunts, then this truck rolls up and it's undercover cops. They just jumped out. Then, this lady had seen I had a big-ass bag of weed and shit. She'd seen my money and thought I was a drug dealer from out there. They were talking about seizing my money, and I was like, "I don't know what that means," and they're, like, "We're basically gonna take your money when we leave here," and I'm, like, "Hell no!" I'm sitting there being handcuffed and shit, so I got up and grabbed my wallet and then I held it. Then me and the cops started fighting for a little bit I guess. I don't know, I was pretty faded. I don't remember. Next thing you know, I end up in jail in Florida with all these batteries against police officers. Now I got to go to court and stuff all the time..” But getting arrested proved to be a lot less light hearted than Antwuan makes it seem. After the Baker has a Deathwish video, Antwuan gets arrested again on similar charges and during his time the Baker Deathwish team let him go. His party lifestyle got in the way of his skating and his bad decisions made him unmarketable to shoe sponsors and skate teams. He had a short stint with LE but word on the street is he is no longer has a professional sponsor of any sort but that he still can be found on tour with baker just coolin with the homie’s.
